Niger Tornadoes confident LMC to soon okay Minna stadium for their home games

Bako Kontagora Stadium pitch waiting for inspection

Niger Tornadoes are confident they will get the nod from a League Management Company (LMC) inspection team for them to soon return to play their home games at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna.

Tornadoes have played their home games in the last two seasons in Lokoja at great cost and to the dismay of their teeming fans.

The LMC inspectors are due in Minna to run the rule on the renovated stadium.

“The pitch at the stadium is now in excellent condition and only needs to be cut to a good level and then marked for it to be ready for us,” a top Tornadoes official informed SCORENigeria

“The dressing rooms have also been fully renovated and also ready for us.”

Officials said they believe the club will return to Minna early in the new season after playing some games in Lokoja.

Last season, it was understood Tornadoes spent three million Naira for each home game at their adopted home ground of Lokoja.

Portuguese Side Rio Ave Loans Out Nigerian Midfielder Sunday Abalo Again

Sunday Abalo is heading out on another loan spell after his parent club Rio Ave agreed a deal for him to join second division side SC Covilha for the rest of the season.

It will be the third loan spell the 22 year old will be experiencing since his debut for Rio Ave in the 2014/2015 season, where he made seven appearances.

The season after his debut he was loaned out to second division side Leixoes, but despite making 17 appearances for the team in the league, he was still not deem good enough for the main team of Rio Ave.

A second spell on loan to Leixoes saw him made same amount of appearance like in his first spell, a form which this team around earned him a recall to the Rio Ave squad for pre season.

At Rio Ave he has failed to force his way into the first team, but has however been ever present for the B team from where he will now head out on loan to Covilha.

At Covilha he will team up with Onyeka Lucky Osemene who is back at the club after an unhappy time in Albania, and they will be hoping to boost the chances of the club gaining promotion to the top flight at the end of the season.

Covilha who are placed 6th in the Portuguese second division also have another Nigerian in their ranks in ‎Sodiq Olamilekan Fatai, who has so far scored five goals from 21 games.

Onyeka Osemene Returns To Portuguese Side Covilha After Unhappy Spell In Albania

2 year old Nigerian forward Onyeka Lucky Osemene is back at second division Portuguese side SC Covilha after his contract with Albanian side KF Teuta was terminated.

The forward joined the Albanian side in August from Covilha, but he failed to find the back of the net in the nine games he played for the team in the league in Albania, a form which lead to his release by the modest team.

Osemene was an instant hit in his first stint with Covilha with three goals in nine games before his move to Teuta in Albania, but he failed to replicate same form as he only scored once and that was in a cup game against Kamza on the 13th of December last year.

He has played the majority of his career in Portugal, hence he won’t have much difficulties adapting to life in the country especially as he will be playing for his former team, where some of his teammates are still in the team.

Since his move to Europe in 2014, he has represented Salgueiros, Ribeirao, Sporting Braga II, Trofense and SC Covilha with a total of 19 league goals to his name ‎from all of the team he has played for including Teuta, where he last played.

Slovakian Side AS Trencin Loans Out Issa Adekunle, Udeh, Retains Zubairu, Azango & Gong

Slovakian side AS Trencin have pruned down the number of Nigerian players at the club by loaning out as many as five of teams to teams in Slovakia.

The trio of Ado Zubairu, Philip Azango and Hillary Gong were retained in the first team ‎while the duo of Maduka Udeh and Issa Adekunle have been farmed out on loan.

Udeh was loaned out to fellow top division side Tatran Presov, where he has so far played in sixteen games for the team, who are presently struggling to retain their top flight status in Slovakia.

Presov are 11th in the 12 team league table in Slovakia with 13 points after 19 round of game in the league, but Udeh is getting playing time at the club. The main reason why Trencin loaned him to them.

Adekunle will spend the rest of the season on loan to second division side Inter Bratislava after his failing to break into the team following his transfer in the summer. Adekunle last represented Niger Tornadoes of Nigeria before his move to Slovakia.

Roma Pushing Sadiq Umar To Agree Loan Move To Parma But Striker Wants To Leave Italy

Despite the determination of newly appointed coach of Torino Walter Mazzari to hang onto on loan Roma ‎forward Sadiq Umar, Roma are still pushing the 20 year old to agree a loan move to Serie B side Parma.

Sadiq has failed to nail a permanent spot in the Torino line up despite impressing in the three Serie A games he has played so far, and his lack of game time has made his parent club Roma initiate moves to terminate his loan deal with Torino.

However while Roma want the lanky forward to join 7th placed Serie B side Parma, Umar wants a move away from Italy to another European country according to Kaduna based radio personality Mohammed Suleiman ‎, who is close to the Nigeria Rio 2016 Olympic star.

” Sadiq is keen on a move away from Italy, but Roma want him to remain in Italy and play in the Serie B for Parma while he wants to leave Italy entirely to another European country”, Mohammed popularly called Mowiz revealed on his sports programme on Liberty Radio 91.7 Fm.

” He is still highly valued by Roma, hence their decision for him to remain in Italy where he can be easily monitored and of course he is sure to get games at Parma, which will aid his development but he has other ideas”.

Last season while on loan at Bologna injuries and fitness issues restricted him to just seven league appearance with no goal to his name, as opposed to his breakthrough season ‎two years ago when he scored twice from just six league games.

He represented Nigeria at the Rio 2016 Olympics and ended as the top scorer for Nigeria with four goals as they cruise to a bronze medal finish at the games held in Brazil.

NPFL leading scorer Junior Lokosa says 3 goals great for his confidence

Junior Lokosa – Kano Pillars striker

Kano Pillars striker Junior Lokosa has told SCORENigeria his goals have boosted his self-belief this season after he fired his third goal in as many matches thus far.

Lokosa and Godwin Obaje are tied on three goals apiece after three rounds of action in the new NPFL season after the Pillars striker hit target at Rivers United on Sunday.

And the former First Bank of Lagos will attribute his red-hot form in front of goal to his positioning.

“I believe I have got good positioning that is why I have scored three goals so far,” he said.

“It is good that I have scored in every match I have played so far, it is good for my confidence, a major plus to my game even though my goal did not help my team to victory.

“It is too early to discuss the top scorers’ chart, I just want to enjoy my game and take each game as it comes and hopefully I can justify why Pillars signed me as a striker.”

Last season, he scored seven goals after his mid-season transfer from First Bank.

He said he hopes to be back on the winning side against Abia warriors in Kano on Wednesday.

“We are going back to work hard for the three points in the next home fixture after our best was not good enough in Port Harcourt,” he told SCORENigeria

“We were disappointed we lost all three points as a point would have been a positive result for us.”
